Hallagan Consulting

There are 3 points to this chapter:

1. This first lesson is that throwing money at a problem is often a waste of money and should be considered a last resort, not the first. The story is told in a way that the employees truly learn the lesson after experiencing all the real solutions that cost nothing (or very little).

2. The second lesson is showing the importance of quantifying everything. In the example used, it was measuring the speed of the cashiers.

3. The third lesson is that every problem can be turned into an improvement, but only if you choose to look at it that way. If you don’t, it remains a problem forever.
